About
Artist Yau
Experienced artisan Yau has been practicing calligraphy and other art forms for over 40 years. Mr. Yau also had the pleasure of teaching Calligraphy in China for 8 years. After his first exhibition in the U.S., the audience expressed strong interest in his work. Seeing our era of proliferation of digital computation, he feels that it is a waste of beauty not to continue sharing his appreciation and passion for free form calligraphy. He was finally convinced to continue to offer his art to the world. Mr Yau dedicates both time and passion in meticulously creating each unique piece of art work.
Calligraphy
Calligraphy is one of the highest forms of Asian art. In studying calligraphy one must learn something of the origins of Asian language and of how they were originally written. However, except for those brought up in the artistic traditions of the country, its aesthetic significance seems to be very difficult to grasp. Calligraphy serves the purpose of conveying thought but also shows the 'abstract' beauty of the line. Rhythm, line, and structure are more perfectly embodied in calligraphy than in painting or sculpture.
